The 2008 Panthers wrapped up their spring trip down in Lexington, VA with a 15-10 over W&L on Tuesday night.  While we didn't approach the 80 degree weather that awaited us down south a year ago it was still warmer than what we've had so far this season!

The bottom line in this game was that we were able to generate great looks on offense from the start of the game and once we started to compete the way we are capable of, the game turned in our favor.

We were clicking on all cylinders offensively and ended the game with 60 shots, of those I can't think of more than a few that weren't good looks at the cage.  Mike Stone and Jim Cabrera both had a great day combining for 7 goals and 2 assists.   It was nice to see Chris Teves also get on the board a few times with our first goal of the game and then in the second half off of a hard dodge from up top.   Pete Smith had another big day for us and ended up winning the game ball after finishing with a goal and 4 assists.  Pete got us going in the second half when he stuck one in the upper corner on the run off a feed from Cabrera.  A few minutes later he delivered a crushing hit after their face off man picked up the ball just outside the box and thought he'd have a clean look back to the goalie, but Pete was there to drop him.   While we had picked up our intensity after halftime, that play seemed to be the tipping point and we never looked back.

Defensively we definitely have some things we need to work through but I still believe we have the personel to be a good defensive team.   James Guay was excellent on the wing on face offs and we had good play from a few of our defensive middies in Frank Granara and Jeff Begin.  Pete Britt had another great day outletting the ball and had some huge saves but overall we gave them too many good looks at the cage from within 5 yards for him to have a chance.

Dave Campbell rebounded nicely after a rough one against Bowdoin.  We will be getting Alex Giammarco back on Wednesday for Williams which will give us a nice boost at the face off x and will allow Dave to rest a bit.

We're all set to take on the Mules (5-0) at home tomorrow at noon.  They are much improved from a year ago and have already had some solid wins over Williams in OT and Trinity.  They are playing with a lot of confidence and will be hungry to keep their winning streak going.

With it being our first home game of the year and after the 2OT loss a year ago I don't think it's going to take much to get these guys going tomorrow.

Thanks for your continued support.
